Namezero Press Release
INTERNET NAMES WORLDWIDE SIGNS EXCLUSIVE DOMAIN REGISTRATION DEAL WITH NAMEZERO.COM Partnership With Market Leaders Such as Namezero.com is the Key to Domain Registrar's Worldwide Expansion MELBOURNE, Australia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 19, 2000--
Internet Names WorldWide (INWW), a division of Melbourne IT
(ASX:MLB), today announced an exclusive agreement to supply .com, .net
and .org domain names in bulk to Namezero.com, a leading provider of
free personal and business domain names, and domain name based Web
services.
The agreement with Namezero.com allows INWW to tap into the
enormous growth potential of the personal and business domain name
market. Namezero has registered over 300,000 members in the past few
months and its target for domain name registrations is nearly 3
million over the next 12 months. This would make Namezero.com one of
the, if not the largest domain name customers in the world.
"This is very exciting and groundbreaking in the domain name
marketplace,'' said Clive Flory, general manager, INWW. "The domain
name market is exploding and personal domain names are leading the
way. INWW is very pleased to take the lead position in this global
market through its relationship with Namezero.com.''
In addition to providing free personal and business domain names,
Namezero.com also offers free domain hosting, domain based email and
the patent pending Namezero Passport service, which allows members to
create and combine all of their favorite web pages, content, features
and business services in a single platform, anchored by the domain
name and accessible anytime, anywhere from any computer with Internet
access.
An example of a personal domain name is johnsmith.com, where John
could use the domain name for his own web site, and receive all of his
e-mail at mail@johnsmith.com. The popularity of a domain name is
global with variations such as first names, a family name, pet names
and nicknames available for registration.
"We chose INWW because they have scalable registration
infrastructure capable of handling the hundred of thousands of domain
names we register every month,'' said Frank Stanbach, co-founder and
CTO of Namezero.com. "We have already put incredible demands on their
organization, and they have proven to be solid partners. We made an
excellent choice!''
Clive Flory said: "This is another great tribute to the INWW
development team who have built a world class, scalable and robust
domain registration system. Clive Flory added: ''This is why INWW
continues to be the number one partnership choice among the largest
volume players in the domain name industry."
