NAMEZERO.COM CLOSES $6.8 MILLION IN VENTURE CAPITAL FUNDING Phil Sanderson of WaldenVC Joins Board of Directors Silicon Valley, CA.- June 6, 2000 -
Namezero.com (www.namezero.com), , the only Internet domain name registrar to provide free .com domain names and domain name POP e-mail, today announced that it has closed a $6.8 million financing. This Series B round was led by WaldenVC, a San Francisco based venture capital firm. Other investors included Palo Alto based Whitman Capital and Arcadian Venture Partners of Boston. Additionally, the company announced that Phil Sanderson, a WaldenVC general partner, has joined Namezero's board of directors.
Namezero will use these funds to manage its rapid membership growth. In the past two months Namezero has added up to ten thousand new members each day, resulting in a total current membership base of over 450,000. Individuals and small businesses from more than 230 countries have registered to use the Namezero service.
In addition, the company intends to broaden its patent-pending Passportservice, which enables consumers to save time and money when they use the Internet. Some of Namezero's distribution, content, and technology partners include EZBoard, Tribal Voice and Infospace.
