NAMEZERO.COM™ SECURES $25 MILLION THIRD-ROUND STRATEGIC INVESTMENT

Financing Strengthens Namezero's Position as the World Leader in Free Domain Name Services

Silicon Valley, CA.- August 29, 2000 - Namezero.com (www.namezero.com), the only ICANN approved Internet domain name registrar to provide free .com domain names and domain name e-mail, today announced that it has closed a strategic third round investment of $25 million, bringing total funding in the company to over $32 million including earlier investments by leading venture capital firms San Francisco based WaldenVC, Palo Alto based Whitman Capital and Arcadian Venture Partners of Boston. Details of the financing were not disclosed.

Namezero will use these funds to upgrade its patent-pending Passport™ service, accelerate development of new, comprehensive fee-based domain services for small businesses and consumers, as well as expand its membership. Since April, Namezero has become one of the largest providers of domain name services in the world adding over 460,000 new members to its membership base, which now totals more than 900,000. Over 10,000 new members a day sign up for the Namezero service.

"WaldenVC invests in early stage Internet and New Media companies that change the rules, and Namezero has repeatedly exceeded our expectations," said Phil Sanderson, a general partner with WaldenVC. "Raising $25 million in today's tough fundraising environment is only the latest indication that Namezero has become a major player in the domain name arena. The financing demonstrates the corporate and venture capital communities' confidence in the company's long-term viability."

"This strategic investment is a major milestone for us," said Bruce Keiser, Namezero.com president and chief operating officer. "Not only is it an affirmation of our business plan, but more importantly, it is an acknowledgment that our talented and hardworking team have built Namezero into a market leader in less than a year. As our membership nears 1,000,000, we are well positioned to launch a whole suite of value-added services."
