Baby Room Essentials

 
  1. 1 Crib (slats should be no further than 2 3/8" inches apart)
  2. 1 Firm/fitted mattress for your crib
  3. 4 Crib sheets
  4. 2 Water proof mattress pads
  5. Baby formula - if bottle feeding 
    (Please consult your pediatrician.)
  6. 10 Bottles and nipples
  7. 6 dozen/week Disposable newborn diapers or 4 dozen cloth diapers
  8. Diaper wipes with no alcohol
  9. 4 Baby blankets
  10. 8 Receiving blankets
  11. 1 Thermometer - digital/rectal 
    (Please consult your pediatrician for instructions/directions.) 
  12. 1 Nasal bulb syringe - to clear nasal passages 
    (Please consult your pediatrician for directions/instructions) 
  13. Cotton balls and cotton swabs 
  14. Cleaning/skin care products (mild baby soap and shampoo, baby lotion, diaper rash cream etc..) 
  15. 1 Calibrated medicine spoon/dropper/syringe
  16. 4 Soft towel and wash cloths
  17. 2 Pacifiers
  18. 1 Night light 
  19. 1 Baby monitor
  20. 1 Baby Bath Tub 
  21. 1 Diaper bag 
  22. 1 Stroller
  23. 1 Infant car seat (needs to meet current recommended legal standards/requirements)
  24. Initial Infant clothing - Clothing will vary according to seasons/weather:
    - 10 Sleepers
    - 10 T-shirts (front fastening for easy dressing) 
    - 4 Bootees or socks (the kind that won't kick off) 
    - 2 Mittens (prevents baby from scratching self) 
    - 2 Hats
    - 4 Washable bibs

 

Hospital Stay Necessities
What to pack in your luggage prior to the delivery...

 
  1. Loose & comfortable fitting nightgown
  2. Loose & comfortable fitting robe
  3. Barrette or rubber ban to put in your hair
  4. Brush or comb
  5. Sugarless gum, hard candy & chap stick (flavored)
  6. Disposable camera
  7. Writing pad & pen
  8. Money – $10 (change and small bills)
  9. Personal information:
    - Completed Insurance papers
    - Social security #
    - Copy of Driver’s License 
  10. Baby clothes: Clothes will vary on season/weather
    - Infant sleeper
    - Infant T-shirt
    - Baby blanket & receiving blanket
    - Hat
    - Mittens

Leave all jewelry, glasses, and anything of significant value at home.  Wear loose, comfortable clothing to the hospital.   Don’t forget to have infant car seat already in the back seat (middle) of the car.
